LATEST UPDATE: ATLANTA SOLD OUT

As details about ticket sales for the upcoming tour start to surface, I’ll post them here.

DISCLAIMER: I have no inside information, I just collect info posted on the web or in the comments over here, so don’t blame me if any details turn out to be wrong.

– So far, it seems as if all sales will be handled by Ticketmaster.

– All orders for shows listed on Ticketmaster seem to be for “will call only” seats. You order tickets and pay with a credit card. The credit card holder picks up the tickets at the box office the night of the preformance, with a photo ID in hand and the credit card used to make the purchase. Upon receiving your tickets, you are directed immediately in the building. No name changes for ticket pick-ups are permitted.

– Some reports say the only 100% “will call” venue is Atlanta and the other venues should also have “non-will call” seats. Tickets for those seats will not be mailed until a week or so before the show. It will not be possible to print these tickets at home, and fed ex delivery is not available.

– There is a 2 ticket limit. Persons who exceed this limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster ,,at its discretion”.

the asheville paper Citizen-Times says their tix go on sale thru ticketmaster on july 14 – link to the article:
http://tinyurl.com/ffwxb

2. Jimmy No-Eyes - July 6, 2006

The Akron Civic Theater has confirmed that tickets will go on sale July 14. No other information yet.

3. blugel - July 6, 2006

louisville also goes on sale july 14 according to the palace’s website (www.louisvillepalace.com)…looks like next friday will be a busy day!

4. Anonymous - July 6, 2006

Just a little gripe. The tickets for the 2004 European shows were nearly twice the price of the shows on this tour. Whilst I’m sure Mr Waits doesn’t dictate the price of his tickets, a few European promoters must have made a lot of money.

That said, for all those lucky enough to get tickets for these dates enjoy yourselves. I look forward to the reviews.

5. 2for2true - July 6, 2006

The price for these shows are exactly the same as the Seattle show of 10/18/04 (he says whilst gazing fondly at his third row ticket stub)…Interesting how the scalping issue is being handled -this comes straight from Ticketmaster for the Atlanta show:

This event will be sold only on the internet and phone.
This event is WILL CALL ONLY; no tickets will be issued in advance. You will receive a confirmation number upon placing your order. Ticket pick-up begins at 6 pm on the day of the show at the Tabernacle box office. Tickets may only be picked up by the credit card holder on the account and must be accompanied by a photo ID and the credit card used to make the purchase. NAME CHANGES FOR TICKET PICK-UPS ARE NOT PERMITTED. UPON RECEIVING YOUR TICKETS AT THE BOX OFFICE, YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DIRECTED INSIDE THE BUILDING.
Persons who exceed the 2 ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster at its discretion.

The Louisville Palace Box Office is a clear channel venue? =/

7. Anonymous - July 6, 2006

Does anyone have any idea how I can purchase these will call tickets without having a credit card of my own? I am merely 19 I’m afraid, and generally use my parents credit cards to purchase concert tickets, but many of these venues specify that the card holder must pick up the tickets, and they also say that tickets will not be for sale with cash and normal ticketmaster outlets. This is a headache alright.

8. Rob - July 6, 2006

Guy above me, do you have a bank account? You could contact them about getting a debit card. Otherwise you can just apply for a cheap credit card and cancel it quickly I guess…. Or take one of your parents

9. Aaron - July 6, 2006

Are the prices starting prices, rough estimates, etc?

Any ideas?

I’m in Canada, but I’d really love to make Detroit since I’ve never seen him and apparently it’s well worth it

10. Anonymous - July 6, 2006

Has anyone heard about any Northern California “warm up” shows?

Any info would be appreciated.

Gracias.

11. Anonymous - July 6, 2006

So, is this it? Does anyone know if these will be the only eight N. American shows,or whether there will be more announced later? I mean, I’m willing to travel a little to see Tom, but Akron’s a little out of my way.

12. Anonymous - July 6, 2006

Don’t plan on any other dates being announced. Many fans have missed out on the last couple of tours thinking more dates would be announced.

13. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

My parents are willing to let me use their credit cards, but I highly doubt they would drive down to louisville with me to pick up the tickets at will call. What if photocoppied the credit card used to purchase the tickets and/or their driver’s liscence?

14. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

I think that, except for Atlanta, the rest of the venues will have some seats available that are not “will call” and they will mail you actual tickets. They said the best seats are will call so you may have to sit further back, but it’s better than nothing. I would not count on photocopies being acceptable.

15. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

Fantastic! I don’t have enough cash right now(nor a debit card if I did) to buy two tickets for either Louisville or Akron. Luckilly, not all tickets are will call. Things may turn out just fine!

16. bigshoulders - July 7, 2006

Thanks, Henk for gathering all this data… it’s nice to have a reliable straydog to turn to.

17. handlevandal - July 7, 2006

Detroit is currently showing on ticketmaster as ALL WILL CALL.

18. Rob - July 7, 2006

Just to start a quick rumor:

Marc Ribot has no shows on the same dates as Tom

Guns N’ Roses have no dates after July 30 and C2B3 is still not currently active and Tim is back in Primus so it looks like Brain might be available

My guess is same line up as the Europe Real Gone tour… but I’d crap myself if Les Claypool were to replace Larry on even a few songs each show

19. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

So is the Memphis, TN show WILL CALL ONLY?

20. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

And if Memphis, TN is WILL CALL ONLY… does this mean I can only order online using a credit card or something? Is there no way I can just drive over to Memphis and buy the tickets at the Orpheum?

21. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

I saw Ribot’s semi-free schedule too, but he would have to fly Chicago->France->Detroit->New York->Akron in a five day period… I dunno.

22. Anonymous - July 7, 2006

I have a feeling Smokey Hormel
will be playing w/ Tom this tour.

23. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

Um… anybody have any reply for me on that Memphis, TN show? I have the money, but no credit cards. My grandpa has a credit card though. Would that be acceptable?

24. SarahV - July 8, 2006

If it is Will Call only, I think the person whose credit card it is has to be at the show with photo ID and credit card. Maybe convince a friend with a credit card to go to the show with you?

It is hard but it’s an anti-scalping measure designed so the tickets are unsellable.

25. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

So is Memphis, TN WILL CALL ONLY? So far nothing has showed up on Ticketmaster, but this site says they’ll go on sale on the 14th. I’m wondering when I’ll be able to find out if I’m SOL or not.

-M

26. handlevandal - July 8, 2006

You may have to wait until the show appears on ticketmonster. It very clearly states the rules shown above when you click on the “More Info” button for the show. Unfortunately only three shows are up there now.

27. catfish - July 8, 2006

tickets go on sale for the nashville show friday, july 14 at noon according to the ryman website.

28. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

anyone else have trouble finding “United States of America” in the pull down at Ticket Master? Ended up picking something like “United States of America Outlying Islands” or something like that… Was getting real worried something was wrong and I wasn’t gonna get my tickets.

29. Bret LaGree - July 8, 2006

FYI, you can pick any country in the drop-down menu and get tickets successfully if Ticketmaster only gives you the “international will call” option for ticket delivery.

30. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

There were major problems w/ ticketmaster today…I have an account w/ ticketmaster and signed in before looking for tix…then, there was only one “will-call” option and it was for residents outside of the U.S. When I chose “U.S. outlying terr.” ticketmaster asked for my credit card and billing information because it did not recognize me….for giggles, I chose another sow and performer to see what would happen and my account information correctly popped up after I chose tickets….ticketmaster better get their act together…

31. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

yes – same shit happenened to me & i foolishly hit ‘back’ to try and select something besides “int’l will call” & lost my first tix! luckily, got two more after cussing & trying a couple more times.

very psyched now to see TW for 1st time and in my home state!

peace — oldjollymon

32. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

I had (and am having) the eact same problem. Thought you’d guys get a kick out of the word I had to enter to progress at the Ticketmaster sight: “Starve”!

33. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

They just fixed the Will Call problem – got my tix. Got Georgia on my mind!!!! Going to see THE man!

34. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

also, @ 10:00 am…it still said “More info” but if you clicked it, tickets came up…@ 10:05 it finally said “find tickets”

35. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

I need help from Tom’s fan from Toronto area. I am leaving for Russia on August 1. I can find the news about Toronto concert on this web-site or on Ticketmaster while staying there, but there will be no chance for me to buy a ticket.
If somebody can help me to buy a ticket for Toronto show (when it will go on sale) I will be very greatful to you.
I’ll come back from Russia anytime for the show in Toronto if there will be a ticket. If someone can help me please email me at daniil.grigoriev@rambler.ru
Thank you.
Dan.

36. Anonymous - July 8, 2006

there is no Toronto show

37. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

Okay, so it looks like ALL shows are will call only, and assuming you can only buy tickets with credit cards, not cash at ticketmaster outlets (can anyone confirm or deny this?), than the person whose credit card I used HAS to pick up the tickets with me. But do they have to go into the show?

38. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

once you pick up will call tickets, they will make you go directly inside. You wouldn’t be able to go back into the crowd and possibly sell your tickets to a scalper (or scalp them yourself).

39. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

I guess it’s either a pain to get in the door and the tickets are face value, or they make it easy and your tickets are a fortune on ebay or stub hub.

40. inabillity - July 9, 2006

does anyone know how quickly the atlanta show sold out today? as in, within minutes or hours?

41. SarahV - July 9, 2006

I believe it was less than an hour, it’s hard to say exactly since people were having so much trouble getting their tickets bought.

42. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

I called the Orpheum last night (Saturday) and asked about picking up tickets live, in person, come July 14th at 10am with cash and the fellow (Dustin) on the phone said there was no problem.

I’m gonna call back again Monday, though, to make sure. I don’t have a credit card. Nobody I know has a credit card.

-M

43. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

On Brain’s website sometime ago, it stated he would be touring with Tom Waits in fall of 2006.

44. Anonymous - July 9, 2006

Dude, I bet the box office guy wasn’t given the word on how these tickets are being sold. You should find anyone with a credit card to help you out before Friday.

45. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

Are the general admission tickets for the Tabernacle “standing room” (i.e. no seats)?

46. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

“Are the general admission tickets for the Tabernacle “standing room” (i.e. no seats)?”

Yes.

47. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

In response to “inability” I heard from others there were no tix available by 10:25 for Atlanta.

48. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

Gen Admin at the Tabernacle is standing room only. They do have a nice slanted floor so you don’t have to be right up front to get a good view.

49. 2for2true - July 10, 2006

The anti-scalping policy must have worked. Not a ticket to be found on Ebay. I Figured someone would buy two, then auction the right to accompany the seller to the show and pick up the ticket at the box office. Now if Ticketmonster can figure out how to operate their own website, maybe we the fans can get the tickets we want at a decent price.

50. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

I actually do have 2 extra tickets to the Atlanta show (My husband got 2 tickets and I got 2 tickets). One person could go as a “guest” for each of us, then we could part ways once we get inside? Anyone interested? I don’t want to make this too complicated.

51. Anonymous - July 10, 2006

I looked on ebay and one Atlanta ticket was sold yesterday for $202.50!!!
There was another listed today that had got ablove $150 when I last looked (it still had more than 9 days to run on the sale and had over 150 hits!) and now it is gone? I have no idea why …
Anyone know anything more?

52. SarahV - July 10, 2006

Butch convinced the person selling the 2nd ticket to do the right thing, allegedly they took it down from ebay in order to offer it to fans somewhere at face value.

53. Anonymous - July 11, 2006

For the person with the 2 extra tickets in atlanta, I am extremely interested = please contact me erichartsfield@hotmail.com

thanks so much~
Eric

54. Anonymous - July 11, 2006

I went to my bank and got a debit card just so I could buy tickets on friday.

and I quote: “wait… you got a debit card, just so you could see Tom Waits?”

She doesn’t understand me… =)

i have two tix for asheville if any one is interested 828-231-2223

61. martha - July 15, 2006

Wheeeeee! Look at all the pairs of tickets being sold on Ebay for $300 a pop. All Hail the almighty scalpers. Undoubtedly, these ticket buyers (can you really blame them?) are the same people who shout out ROMEO IS BLEEDING! in the middle of one of Tom’s tender piano soliloquys. so, so disappointing.

62. martha - July 15, 2006

sorry, I just need to vent. I almost sent a threatening e-mail to one of the Ebay sellers before thinking better of it. At last count, two and a half hours after tickets went on sale, there were 114 tickets up for auction for the Chicago show alone. The highest price paid so far, $625 for a pair in Row A of the Balcony. Worth It? Yes, but I don’t want to have to sit next to this guy. I’m done.

63. jdhx03 - July 20, 2006

To the anonymous poster above:

If you still have the Atlanta Tickets I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to buy one or both of them. I have my ticket but I have friends who really want to go to the show as well and I’m trying to give them tickets.

Please email me at jdhx3@hotmail.com. Dinner and drinks are yours if we can get the tickets.

Thank you

64. Anonymous - July 25, 2006
